Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has rejected a proposal regarding handing over FIA’s Anti-corruption and Economic Crime wings to the National Accountability Bureau. A summary in this regard was sent to the prime minister. It recommended that NAB should be invested with exclusive jurisdiction of FIA’s relevant wings to effectively deal with corruption cases. It said such restructuring would empower NAB apart from expanding its ambit of investigation. According to sources, NAB Chairman Admiral (r) Fasih Bukhari had sent the summary to the prime minister on January 20 that Ashraf finally rejected.
