Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that the next general elections will be held on time in a free‚ fair and transparent manner.
Talking to the media persons here on Thursday after attending the consultative meeting of Election Commission‚ he said the tenure of the present government is completing on 18th of March following which the caretaker set up will be installed.
He said consultation will be held with all the political parties both within and outside the parliament for the installation of a consensus caretaker set up. He said there should not be any concerns or political scoring on the matter.
Rejecting delay in general elections‚ he expressed the confidence that consensus will be achieved on the caretaker set up.
Responding to a question‚ the Information Minister said all the political parties including Pakistan People’s Party has full confidence on the Election Commission. He said the election commission is moving in the right direction by holding consultations with all the political parties.
Qamar Zaman Kaira said the present government and the caretaker set up will extend full support to the Election Commission in terms of funds and technical assistance to ensure transparent elections.
