Pakistani family sentenced in UK on murder charges

A Pakistani man and three members of his family were jailed after being convicted of murdering his pregnant wife on the pretext that she was possessed by evil spirits. Naila Mumtaz, originally from Pakistan, died at her home in Handsworth Wood, Birmingham in July 2009. She was six months pregnant at the time. Her husband Mohammed Tauseef Mumtaz, his mother Salma Aslam, his father Ziaul Haq and his brother Hammad Hussan were found guilty of murder after a three-month trial at the city s crown court in July this year. Tauseef and Hammad were jailed for a minimum of 13 years while their parents were given minimum terms of 15 years each.
