ISAF and Pakistan are committed to peace and security on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border Lieutenant General Nick Carter, Deputy Commander of the International Security Assistance Force said.
He expressed these views during his meeting with Lieutenant General Waheed Arshad, Chief of the General Staff Pakistan Army on Wednesday.
According to ISPR, meeting was the latest in a regular series of engagements aimed at bolstering the military-to-military relationship between ISAF and Pakistan, as well as improving security in the region.
Lieutenant General Carter and Lieutenant General Arshad discussed a variety of issues relating to mutually shared goals of peace and stability in the region, including pressuring militant groups and strengthening cross border cooperation along the Pak-Afghan Border.
This ongoing strategic dialogue between senior ISAF and Pakistani leaders, supported by frequent discussions at lower levels, has enhanced the effectiveness of operations on respective sides of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
“ISAF and Pakistan are committed to peace and security on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, so these discussions are very important,” Carter said. “We are committed to achieving enduring solutions to security issues.”
