Chancellor of Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) Z A Nizami said Sunday that a voluminous book on the lives and achievements of Ali brothers – Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar and Maulana Shaukat Ali Jauhar – would be launched in January next year under the auspices of.
The chancellor said this in a meeting with a visiting writer and critic from London, Sayeed Hasan Khan. Nizami said further that the book launch on January 4 would coincide with the `Jauhar Day’ which the SSUET observes every year. It was informed that the 600-page-book had been written by Khalid Ali, a prominent writer, journalist and a grand son of Jauhars, who resides in the US. He said no one else than Khalid Ali could throw light on the lives and achievements of Ali brothers in a more authentic way and its launch at a venue named after the great reformer and educationist Sir Syed Ahmed Khan would be the most appropriate occasion.
Sayeed Hasan Khan, who is a close friend of Khalid Ali, lives in London for the last 50 years and as a writer he has produced two books namely `No clear hands’ and `Kurt Jacobsen- Parables of Permanent War’.
Currently, he is writing a book based on his memoirs relating to the period of his migration from Brelli (India), association with Muslim Students Federation in his teenage and the events which occurred before shifting to UK in 1961 and as a peace activist.
