Besides inundating Madinatul Hikmat and Bhoorey Khan Goth area, the breach in channel No 23 of Hub canal late Saturday night will deprive Karachiites of millions of gallons of water for approximately three days. According to chief engineer Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB) Iftikhar Ahmed, the breach which emerged in Hub canal at RD-23 would result in suspension of 100 million gallons (MG) of water supply to the city at daily basis. He said that the KW&SB teams were dispatched to the site soon after getting the information but it would take at least three days to plug the breach.
