MQM and PML-N

The MQM leader Altaf Hussain is reported to have said on a private TV channel that PML-N was a dacoit of South Punjab rights. This preposterous claim does not behove a leader of his standing and smacks of stark provincialism. On the contrary, it is the PPP and MQM combined that are usurping the rights of Pakistan when they oppose the building of Kalabagh dam which is lifeline of the country. Both the above have stubbornly opposed Kalabagh dam. Mr Altaf Hussain is on record to have said during General Musharraf’s tenure that he had performed an act of diverting Gen Musharraf’s attention away from Kalabagh dam that he said was a more bold an act more than that of Rustam-e-Zaman’s.
This statement alone is enough to prove that the MQM leader is against the progress of not only Punjab but also whole of Pakistan. Sitting in the cozy environs of UK, he does not realize the pains of Pakistan as a result of water and power shortages leading to mass protests and massive unemployment engendered by non construction of a hydroelectric dam since four decades in the country. The whole country has been taken hostage by anti-people policies of PPP and MQM’s unholy nexus.

  1. Bhasha dam has been delayed by five years, now it will take 17 instead of 12 years to build. Kalabagh dam is the only hope for survival. Small and medium dams will not give us the quantity of water that we badly need for irrigation and other uses. Shortage of water will go on increasing every year in the absence of a mega dam soon.
