Nine Additional District & Sessions judges appointed in Islamabad

Nine Additional District & Sessions Judges have been appointed in the Islamabad Capital Territory.
A notification to this affect was issued by Registrar of Islamabad High court here on Thursday. Those appointed as Additional district and sessions in BPS-20 are Rakhshanda Shaheen from Punjab, Sikandar Khan, KPK, Raja Khurram Ali Khan, ICT, Muhammad Adnan, Sindh, Abida Sajjad, Zeba Choudhry, Muhammad Jehangir, Rafaqat Ahmed Khan Awan and Raja Asif Mehmood, all from Islamabad Capital Territory.

  1. I have challenged the appointment of one additional candidate from ICT (as out of 9 maximum of 5 candidates could be selected against quota of 50% reserved for ICT) who has been given the unfilled quota of Balochistan, against merit, transparency and rule of law. My contention is that the unfilled quota must be filled through open merit amongst rest of the candidates, rather arbitrarily as in the instant case. The matter is pending adjudication before Islamabad High Court (IHC), where the respondent (Registrar IHC) has been issued notice on 24-09-2012 to appear on next date of hearing.
