The City Traffic Officer (CTO) Superintendent Police (SP) Syed Ishtiaq Hussain Shah said that 282 traffic wardens and eight inspectors of the City Traffic Police (CTP) have been deployed in different areas of the city to regulate traffic on the city roads during the construction of the Sixth road flyover.
He said that though a comprehensive traffic plan had been formulated for the construction period of the flyover, but cooperation of the citizens was necessary to avoid traffic mess mainly on the Benazir Bhutto Road (Murree road). He urged the citizens to use alternative routes and instead of Chandni Chowk, people should use the Double road portion of Murree road to reach their destinations during the construction period.
The CTO informed that under the traffic plan an enhanced number of traffic wardens were performing their duties at the project site.
He also said that all necessary arrangements regarding regular flow of traffic were being made and were aimed at facilitating the citizens, mainly the motorists.

The SP said the motorists should use other routes to reach their destinations in the twin cities instead of traveling on the Murree road, particularly Double Road to Chandni Chowk area. The motorists particularly the commercial service vehicles would be allowed to use the route of Faizabad or Double Road, Saidpur, Kali Tanki, National Market, Chandni Chowk and Murree Road to reach Rawalpindi from Islamabad. Similarly, people who wanted to travel towards Islamabad from Rawalpindi would also be allowed to use the same route. The service roads near Arid Agriculture University would also be available for the movement of the traffic and the vehicles could move on the Farooq-e-Azam road, Transformer chowk and Chandni chowk.
