The National Energy Conservation Centre (ENERCON) has launched an awareness drive, aimed at identifying and quantifying the energy losses in industrial, transport, building and agricultural sector.
In this regard, an activity would be launched from Bahria University, Islamabad, on Wednesday to help strengthen industry-academia relationship. Coordinator of the campaign from ENERCON, Asad Mahmood, on Tuesday told APP that the awareness drive would also play important role in setting-up Certified Energy Managers Regime for Designated Energy Consumers as per Pakistan Energy Efficiency and Conservation Law which is in its final stages of approval.
He said the initiative has been taken through Energy Conservation Fund to establish Energy Audit Tools Lab for demonstration and trainings. Asad said presently there is very little knowledge of the subject among technical professionals but demonstration of the tools through trainings will help identify the energy losses in different sectors. He thanked Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) which supported the initiative and recommended all the PEC registered 60 engineering universities to take suitable measures for inclusion of ENERCON’s energy audit sessions going to be delivered by our representative in respective universities, offering energy courses in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Civil or any other relevant disciplines.
