With the Supreme Court giving a 22-day breathing space to the PM, he is safe for now, but what next? The issue of writing letter to the Swiss authorities has now become really cumbersome. This seems like an unending cycle that will continue till the scheduled general elections in March 2013. It is quite clear that the PM will not write any letter against the president. If the SC will keep its rigid stance, the PM will have no choice but to vacate his seat for the next PM and the same game of musical chairs will be played. The current behavior of judiciary is a mockery of law and institutions as government is adamant over their point of view. PPP from the day one is trying to tackle the shots of CJ in the form of the NRO case; the calls for early elections also remained a constant throughout its four-year tenure. Now that there is little time left in the general elections, it should not be spent in this endless fight of judiciary and presidency. The PM won’t write the letter but even if he does write the letter to the Swiss authorities, they are unlikely to reopen the case as the president has immunity. The institutions instead of playing ping pong game should bring an end to this ridiculous situation and instead should do something practical to solve the real issues.
