The feudals, makhdooms, sardars and Sajada Nasheens of South Punjab have been in power before partition and thereafter, not only at provincial level but at federal level. No benefit will accrue to the millions living in stone ages in this area by creation of a separate province which will be ruled by the very feudal nemesis, who are responsible for their plight. When undivided Punjab was ruled by Unioinist Party, it were these feudal from Zamaidara League who formed a coalition with Hindu and Sikhs to rule this province. After partition the most powerful civil government which has ruled Pakistan was ZAB’s PPP and it was none other than Mustafa Khar, strongest politician of Punjab, followed by several others from this deprived part of Punjab, who enjoyed immense power. While the feudal from South Punjab today own largest sugar mills and are masters of biggest farm houses, the people are illiterate, deprived even of clean drinking water.
South Punjab has the highest ratio of ghost schools and hospitals, where funds allocated were utilized to build infrastructure and hire teachers, doctors etc only on paper, but never was this infrastructure allowed to function and deliver by powerful feudal lobby who by design want hundreds of thousands of deprived to live in abject poverty in the areas under their influence. Billions of rupees have been allocated for construction of roads and bridges, which have been consumed by corrupt local bureaucracy with patronage of powerful MNAs and MPAs of this area. Billions allocated by successive governments to MNAs, MPAs, Senators for development projects have vanished into thin air.
Bridges and roads which if properly constructed should withstand pressures of rains and floods got washed away like sand dunes. The biggest hindrance to development of South Punjab are these powerful feudals whose foreign educated daughters are seen carrying Birken bags, but who would ensure that these deprived millions live forever in deprivation, without any education, never demand equality or even basic rights. No other area of Punjab has such a high rate of female abuse crimes where women are treated even worse than cattle and sheep and minor girls are given away to compensate feuds by panchayats, patronized by none other than powerful political feudal who hold the fort in this most deprived part of Punjab.

Multan
you have rightly pointed out real issue. However, at the moment, on one side, people of the area suffer from these waderas; on the other side, provincila govt spends relatively less amonts for development of this deprived area. After creation of separate administrative units, difficulties faced by masses through Punjab govt secretariate would to a great extent reduce. Moreover, it is hoped that some development would happen in this highly deprived area.
I think as long as these same feudals are in power, a seperate South Punjab would be a ticket for them to exploit these poor people endlessly. Look at waht Y R Gillani has done for S punjab. He could not look beyond city of Multan. Even his own constituency, part of which extends to rural outskirts of Multan, there are no road, no functioning schools or even hospitals, not even clean drinking water or any saniation. The only scools and colleges which have been built after partition are the ones constructed when none of trhese feudals from Seraiki belt were in power. Just look at the area of Farooq Leghari, who had the power to sack elected government but deliberately prevented any education or state health services in his area.
These feudals of South Punjab consider and treat their haris worse than Dalits or Untoucables. The women of these feudals dont observe purdah, just like our Birken bag carying Foreign minister, but she would never allow the poor of her area to look at her, just like the brahmin ladies consider that they will become tainted if looked at by lower caste hindus. These feudals detest creation of schools, colleges or clinics in their areas, because they want these people to live in stone age so that they can be expoited and their women abused.
Even YRG did notlook beyond Multan. He even ignored hoi own constituency. Not one school, college or university was built when any of these men from S Punjab held power, as compared to this the Nawab of Bahawalpur invested in development of human resources.
Not a single school, college or hospital was constructed when these feudals held power, which includes Daultana, Farooq Leghari, Mustafa Khar, Makhdum Sajjad Qureshi, YRG etc etc.
YRG did allocate funds for just Multan, but nothing for Vehari, Muzzafargarh, Khanewal, Bahawalnager. In fact his own constituency, parts of which extend into outskirts of Multan have despicable living condition, without roads, state education or health facilities, not even clean drinking water. In contrast look at the welfare projects undertaken by Nawab of Bahawalpur, when he held power.
The President Promised That He Will Go 99% If The Provincial Leaders Go One Percent On Their Demand For A Exclusive Bank' I Say The Media and Business Leaders Dont Know That Just The Title and Logo Is One Percent Enough For A Bank? How Illitrate Are You ? How Is Mustafa Khar Even A Strong Leader? When All His Property Is Either On The Thin Ice …. To Serve Human Trade Or Shiekhupura Where US Green Card Machines And Computerised Passports Are Littered Around!
