The national press has reported a plan B for raising funds for Bhasha dam. It envisages mortgaging the generators of existing mega-dams for $3 billion but that will not be enough as the job requires 12 billion US$. From where will the rest of the money come? Perhaps, by mortgaging the entire irrigation system of Pakistan. No wonder Pakistan is in such an economic quagmire right now because its planners have such brilliant ideas.

They won't need to mortgage anything if they go for Kalabagh dam funding for which will be readily forthcoming from ADB and WB. Also the president of LCCI has offered that all the Chambers will join hands to provide local and foreign currency in full for Kalabagh dam
Mr Khurshid Anwer. It appears Punjab is bent upon to ruin Sindh completely by building controversial Kalabagh dam in Punjab. By not implementing Water Accord – 1991 relevent portion to Sindh like release of limited water downstream Kotri as earlier agreed and saving Indus delta, you are not satisfied yet. Why you people want to see Sindh in complete desert and who is behind you people?
Mr Sial has exposed his bias by objecting to Kalabagh dam because it is in Punjab. Kalabagh dam like any other dam will increase supplies, it will also increase the flow in the Indus. It is sheer ignorance to say that it will ruin Sindh. It is for IRSA to allot water for the delta but it cannot do so until there is more water. Why is Mr Sial having difficulty in understanding such simple facts and keeps repeating himself to the point of being monotonous.
Water Accord – 1991 clearly mentioned that limited water was to be released downstream Kotri but 22 years have passed, due to intransigence of Punjab, it was not implemented. In IRSA meetings, Punjab has raised objection on release of water many times, Plz do not give lollipop of KBD to Sindhis. First implement the Accord abour release of said water, it is question of life and death of 2.6 million Muslims and Pakistani Sindhis besides Indus delta – sixth largest in the world. This is simple that you can not understand that 2.6 million people belonging to Sindh are also human beings.
