Slogan for independence not popular in Balochistan: Kaira

Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira on Saturday said the slogan for independence from Pakistan was only being raised by a handful of people in Balochistan and it was not a popular demand in the province. Talking to reporters in Quetta, Kaira said the impression that the government had not made sufficient efforts to alleviate the situation in Balochistan was false, adding that the provincial government had the responsibility to establish peace in the province and provide security to the citizens.
Kaira had arrived in the province along with other members of the committee formed by the federal cabinet to present a report on the law and order and human rights situation in Balochistan. The minister said the government would address the issues of those raising the slogan of secession. He said the government would analyse the steps needed to resolve the province’s issues, adding that the committee would prepare a list of recommendations to be presented to the federal cabinet.

  1. Slogan of independence is not popular in Afghanistan. That may be the case though it is debatable. However, what can't be denied is the fact that the situation is not much different with that of Bangladesh before its independence. Heavy handedness of agencies and the forces is worsening the situation by day.

    • The government of Pakistan should provide the same opportunity to Govern their own destiny like they are seeking for Kashmiris. Free Blochistanis from 65 years of heavyhandedness and lack of economic and political freedom . Do not forget what happened in East Pakistan.

  2. The fact is that the government has not succeeded in eliminating the dire situation prevailing in Balochistan.The seriousness which is required for this threat is still being neglected. It living in the world of self-deception will create another Bangladesh. The people of Balochistan are now well aware of their rights and needs and can't bear the inferiority complex from which they have been suffering since 1947.The people are still living in caves in the some areas of Balochista. Be aware of the fact that revolutionary spirit just needs a flame and this flame is being prepared by Indian and foreign agencies.
