KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed has said that doctors, professors, specialists and medical staff associated with the hospitals, dispensaries and maternity homes run by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation will not be allowed to go on long leaves in future. These professionals secure jobs in other countries and deprive the local doctors as well as medical students of their right. He expressed these views while chairing the 24th Governing Body meeting of Karachi Medical and Dental College, said a statement issued by the KMC on Saturday.
The administrator said the power to sanction long leave would now be held by Governing Body due to its importance. KMDC will henceforth run round the clock except for the approved holidays by the Government of Sindh and KMC, he added. The meeting also gave approval for awarding three year contract to Principal Prof. Doctor Waqar Kazmi on account of his services to the institution and his expertise in the concerned field.
Not allowing any increase in the tuition fee in college, Administrator Karachi said poor and middle class students were studying here and this would put adverse effect on their education.
The administrator further said KMDC was now counted among the major medical institutions in the country and it had attained this status within a short period of 20 years.
The meeting was attended by Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, MNA Muhammad Waseem Khan, former provincial minister Qazi Khalid Advocate, Principal KMDC Prof. Doctor Waqar Kazmi, Director Medical Dr Mashood-uz-Zafar Farooq, M.S Abbasi Shaheed Hospital Dr Nadeem Rajput, Sr Director Medical Services Imdadullah Siddiqui, Director Administration Nargis Shagufta and other high officials.
KMC finalizes programs for IDay: The teachers and students of schools run by KMC were directed to attend their school on August 13 and 14 so that Independence Day could be celebrated in a befitting manner.
This was decided in a meeting chaired by Metropolitan Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan in which various programs were finalized, said a statement issued by the KMC on Saturday.
The commissioner said the flag hoisting ceremony will be held in the civic center on the August 14 whereas students from different schools of Karachi would sing the national anthem and other patriotic songs. He said 326 new flags will be hoisted on the newly installed poles in the city by KMC.
Int’l Youth Day to be marked today: The International Youth Day will be marked in the metropolis today (Sunday).
In this connection a function would be organized at a local hotel. Syed Faisal Ali Subzwari, Sindh Minister for Youth Affairs, will be the chief guest of the event to be organized by the Department of Youth Affairs, Government of Sindh, in collaboration with the Habib University Foundation.
The theme of the day as declared by the UN is `Building a Better World: partnering with Youth’. The event will engage young people in reflecting on their key issues, and how they can overcome these challenges.
Quaid-i-Azam conference: The Baqai Medical University will organize the Quaid-i-Azam National Conference towards the end of December this year.
An official said here on Saturday that the meeting of the organizing committee in this regard would be convened after Eid-ul-Fitr.
He further stated that in connection with the Independence Day celebrations, the flag hoisting ceremony would be held in front of the Administration Block of the Baqai Medical University.
