PML-N Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif has announced manifesto of his party for the forthcoming elections in terms of three E’s i.e. education, energy and economy. He has mentioned that the energy crisis would be solved in two years but has not specified any target for education and economic progress – when will Pakistan achieve 100% literacy and become an Asian Tiger?
Pakistan People Party’s Manifesto in the 2008 elections was five E’s i.e. employment education, energy, environment and equality. Why does the PML-N have to follow in the PPP’s footsteps? Why does it not have any original/innovative manifesto such as to establish the rule of law, merit, eradicate corruption, bring reforms in the civilian government services, deregulate the energy sectors etc.
People now wish to know the details of plans and how they would be implemented as it is known to every Pakistani that political parties forget their manifestos after winning the election. PML-N has been ruling 62% of Pakistani population and its performance in the field of education, energy and economy has been pathetic.
After the 18th amendment, provinces have been empowered to generate electricity – why has a single hydel project using canal water not been implemented? What are the power projects which PML-N will implement to overcome the energy crises? How will the theft of electricity and line losses be controlled? PML-N should also know that the new young voters want employment. PML-N is already aware of the threat that the PTI poses in the upcoming elections and therefore should come up with more impressive manifestos.
