Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Director General Arif Mahmood on Sunday indicated the chances of another rain spell of monsoon season in various parts of the country from Wednesday which will break the intensity of prevailing hot weather conditions to some extent.
Talking to APP, the DG said the intensity of upcoming rain spell cannot be predicted, however, it may prevail for two days or more.
The rain spell will occur mainly at upper parts of the country including Rawalpindi and Gujranwala, he said.
According to the weather report, hot and dry weather will prevail in most parts of Punjab with chances of rain/thunder shower at few places of Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore and Multan division during evening/night. According to the synoptic situation, seasonal low lies over north Balochistan and adjoining areas with its trough extending southeast wards.
Hot and dry weather will prevail across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with chances of rain/thunder shower at few places of Hazara division at dusk. In Sindh, hot and dry weather is expected, however, rain/thunder shower may occur at few places of Mirpurkhas division during evening and night.
Weather will remain hot and dry in Balochistan during the next 24 hours. Partly cloudy weather is expected in Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan with chances of rain/thundershower at few places of Kashmir during evening.
Highest maximum temperature recorded in Noorpur Thal was 44 C while the maximum temperatures of other cities were Islamabad 37 C, Karachi 33 C, Lahore 37 C, Peshawar 42 C, Gilgit 40 C, Quetta 36 C, Muzaffarabad 38 C, Murree 25 C, Multan 41 C and Faisalabad 41 C.
