Capital Development Authority (CDA) has failed to stop illegal construction in green areas of residential sectors despite direct orders of Islamabad High Court (IHC).
According to details, Malik Nawaz, resident of Sector I 10/4 on Monday filed a petition in IHC (W.P 2944/2013), on which the IHC chief justice issued status quo against illegal construction of houses on the green areas.
Residents of Sector I 10/4, while talking to Pakistan Today said that CDA officials demarcated five illegal plots on green areas against the original master plan.
“A complaint was launched with the CDA chairman informing him of the illegal plots but he refused to take action against the officials,” said Malik Nawaz.
Advocate Saad Rajpoot, the legal expert in the petition said that work was still being carried out at the site ignoring the orders of the court. He said that despite dispatching a copy of status quo to CDA, trees were still being cut for plotting and the flood wall which has kept residents safe from floods has been demolished.
Residents of the area have demanded the IHC chief justice to take strict action against the violators and to initiate criminal proceedings against those responsible.
The CDA director enforcement was not available for comments.
