Over 80 rare peacocks have died from a disease known as Ranikhet in Tharparkar area. The disease has begun spreading to other areas as well.
The Wildlife Department was informed about the death of five rare peacocks 19 days ago but the administration turned a dead year towards this information as the situation reached an alarming stage.
The administration has finally awaken from deep slumber but it has failed to control the disease as the peacocks are dying with each passing day.
The deadly disease has reached Karachi where two peacocks died at the zoo. Sources say over 80 rare peacocks have already perished.
