Ramazan, the month of boundless blessings and happiness brings bhatta culture here in the city instead of the happiness and holiness that it always brought in the past. According to the media reports and other sources, more than 20 businessmen have been kidnapped within two weeks.
These are the acts of the looters and actual terrorists of the country who do not even spare the ordinary citizens during this sacred month of Ramzan.
They receive extortion money by threatening the local businessmen through SMS and phone calls. It is worth mentioning here that the parchi system is the oldest one and the most effective one for extorting money from shopkeepers and businessmen.
It is really a matter of concern on the part of authorities as they have constantly been unable to bring an end to extortion, bhatta culture and parchi system in the city. Karachi will not remain the economic hub of the country if the situation carries on in the near future.
