Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) with the help of social media experts attracted 100,000 youngsters to its October 30 rally at Minar-e-Pakistan.
The PTI’s marketing team, in conjunction with social media experts from Cresset Technologies, had designed a political campaign for the cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan and his party on the social media.
“The impact of social media on our daily lives is far greater than we think,” said Asad Malik, social media expert and the managing director of Cresset Technologies.
He was addressing a gathering of young people here at a local hotel in connection with Social Media Day in Pakistan.
Malik said there were 3.2 billion likes and comments made on Facebook each day, 175 million tweets are sent on Twitter a day, the Google+ button is pressed 5 billion times a day. 17 million people visit Pinterest every day, nearly 830,000 YouTube videos are uploaded daily, 526 million people sign up for Facebook every day, Google+ increases its number of users by 625,000 a day, 58 photos are uploaded through Instagram every second, StumbleUpon adds 2.2 million pages a day and 300 million photos are uploaded to Facebook each day.
He said latest worldwide surveys suggest that the number of Facebook users has reached to 850 million as of February 2012, followed by 500 million registered users and 200 million active users of Twitter, 135 million users of LinkedIn, 90 million users of Google+ and 10.4 million users of Pinterest.
