This is with reference to the reports which appeared in all the national dailies on Saturday, regarding outburst of PML-Q’s disgruntled legislator Riaz Hussain Pirzada over the appointment of PML-Q’s senior central leader Ch Parvez Elahi as the Deputy Prime Minister in the federal cabinet of new Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf on the floor of the National Assembly on Friday.
Riaz Hussain Pirzada is a seasoned political worker and parliamentarian. He should have known that the appropriate forum for raising the party matters is the party itself and not the national assembly as such. Furthermore, if he is so much annoyed with the party high command, Ch Shujat Hussain and Ch Parvez Elahi, he should better quit the party and then seek re-election on PML-N’s ticket or any party of his choice.
There is no mention of the posts of the deputy prime minister and the senior federal minister or the senior provincial minister and the acting provincial chief minister in the constitution and these are more or less ceremonial posts. Ch Parvez Elahi as the deputy prime minister would never become the acting prime minister as such and exercise the powers of the prime minister. This has already been mentioned in the notification issued in this regard.
He should have been happy that a senior central leader of PML-Q has become the deputy prime minister for the first time ever in the history of the country.
