President Asif Ali Zardari signed the amended Contempt of Court Bill 2012 into law on Thursday.
After go-ahead by the president, the bill became part of the constitution in an apparent move vis-à-vis Supreme Court (SC) to save disqualification of Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf in the footsteps of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, who was sent home over contempt charge.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Upper House of the Parliament adopted the bill amid a strong protest by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
The bill, which exempts prime minister, governors, chief ministers, federal ministers and state ministers from contempt proceedings over right criticism, had already been passed by the National Assembly on Monday.

  1. 100 sunar ki 1 Lohaar ki…
Its a great day for all people of Pakistan who believe in the Parliament and Democracy – this Law is yet another "reconciliation move" by the Government towards the Judiciary to accept the domains and move forward. (Live and Let-Live). Jiye-Bhutoo……

  2. What a democracy!, they should just go and pass another law for immunity for lifetime trial ban for any member of assemblies! True face of thugs protecting themselves from law by making another so called "Law"!

What a banana republic Pakistan has come under Don Zardari! and shame on each and every member of assemblies. Atleast some of them should have shame and resign from these thug protecting law making machines! Wake up Sharifs, dont wait too long to hang on to power!

  5. Thank You ! General Musharraf now your NRO born Rodents, Skunks and Weasels can run free in the Hen-Coop not to beg or borrow but steal at will. You wanted to fire the CJ for whatever rhyme or reason! Now any fool can stand in the court drop his pants and fart in the face of the Judge. I should not forget the Fox in this game who only babbles in the public of restoring true democracy and ending the dilemma created by the other three. He is no better than the Hyena sitting on the opposite bank.

  6. The bill has legalize corruption.shame on us.o people remember ppp in coming election.reject any ppp candidate and if possible slap the ppp candidate in the face in your repective areas.

  7. It can't be any more obvious than this that this ammendment was passed to protect a few. If the courts let this ammendment stand then its just a matter of time before every wrong and immoral thing will become legal and every right and just thing will become wrong. The problem is that there are too many jialas walking the streets and by nature they are stupid. They breed like rats and thats how ppp keeps their power base. These people will vote for them no matter what because if they don't then their families will be kicked out of the servant quarters and they will have nowhere to go. Sad sad situation.

  8. Before we start blaming the government, lets not forget, "WE THE PEOPLE" voted for these thugs, now weep. And if we bring them back, fool me twice shame on me.Soooo, instead of complaining,do something about it.Whatever you do,do not vote for PPP or we will be stuck with the same ol' same ol'.And who knows, there may not be much left of Pakistan to be called pakistan.I will be called sorry republic of PPP.Read it and weep.
