At least 14 persons were killed and seven others injured when a vehicle hit a landmine planted in an hilly area of Toba Achakzai in Chaman near Pak-Afghan border on Sunday.
Confirming the incident, Assistant Commissioner Chaman Habibullah Khan said the blast occurred in Sennari area near the border. Reports said that women and children were among the dead.
Assistant Commissioner Chaman Habibullah Khan also said that as many as seven people were injured in the blast that occurred in the limits of Afghanistan.
“Seven injured have been shifted to Chaman Hospital,” the sources added.
President Asif Ali Zardari has condemned the incident and sought a report from the authorities about this ill fated incident.
Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has also condemned the incident and has condoled with the heirs of the deceased. He directed for provision of best possible medical treatment to the injured.
The Prime Minister directed the provincial administration to take steps to check such incidents in future.
