Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial on Thursday adjourned a plea against dual nationality of MPA Rana Asif, granting his counsel five days to file a response on legal points raised in the case. The petition was filed by Faisal Ilyas Sadiq, through his counsel Saiful Malook, seeking disqualification of MPA Rana Asif. Asif’s counsel submitted that his client could not be disqualified under 63 (1), (C), as he had a Canadian passport but was not a citizen of Canada. To which the petitioner’s counsel responded saying Canadian passports can only be issued to Canadian citizens.
