Acting Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice Shakirullah Jan has said that voter lists would be completed by the end of the ongoing month and the ECP would be in a position to hold general elections after July. Addressing a ceremony on Tuesday, Justice Shakirullah Jan said the delay in preparation of voters’ lists was not a negligence of the CEC, but a laxity of Statistics Division. He said due to inattention of Statistics Division, the EC had to suffer and bear additional burden to complete the voters’ lists. The acting chief election commissioner was of the view that the ECP was only responsible for monitoring the polls, and it was the government’s job to maintain law and order.
