Pakistan and India on Monday exchanged the lists of prisoners in each other’s custody under the Agreement on Consular Access that the two counties signed in 2008. “According to the Agreement on Consular Access signed between Pakistan and India on May 21, 2008, both countries are required to exchange lists of prisoners in each other’s custody twice a year, on January 1 and July 1, respectively,” said a Foreign Office statement on Monday.
“Consistent with the provisions of this agreement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs handed over a list of Indian prisoners in Pakistan to the Indian High Commission in Islamabad today, July 1, 2012 being a closed holiday,” it said.
