This decision by President Zardari to appoint Raja Pervaiz as PM was just like adding salt to the wounds of the masses who have been subjected to untold misery due to the crippling power shortages. Why is the PPP bent upon mocking the people, whose very welfare it is supposed to safeguard? It is an insult to memory of PPP founding Chairman to appoint a PM of questionable integrity with mediocre capability to hold an office that was held by PM Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Mohtarma Benazir. As it is, Yousaf Raza Gilani has done immense damage to the PPP’s image and this decision to replace him with another shady character will damage this party immensely.
As far as this NAB is concerned, they would like to throw dust into our eyes and make us believe that the devil and his unknown disciples are responsible for fleecing Hajis, pilfering PSM, PIA, Railways, NICL, OGDC, PSO, PEPCO, the rental power scam, the 70,000 missing containers and the Ephedrine scam. The Rs 6 trillion debt piled over 60 years can be attributed to a lot of things like Tarbela, Mangla, KAMRA, Motorway, Heavy Mechanical Complex, PSM, Nuclear Deterrence etc, while the Rs 6 Trillion of additional debt in the post 2008 period seems to have been accumulated without any good reason and the money seems to have been spent on thin air.
With a NAB headed by a man whose connections with Bahria are no secret, or of an Attorney General who as Prosecutor NAB had played a vital role in obtaining a favourable plea bargain for the most corrupt of all former senior naval officers this country has seen, the culture of corruption is sure to thrive. However what these men in power have failed to realise is that the wrath of this nation will fall like a lightning bolt from heaven and sweep them away. The anger on streets, a small trailer of which was witnessed in Punjab, once unleashed will consume all those whose hands are tainted with looted money and blood of innocent Pakistanis. Political parties like ANP, MQM, PML(Q) and JUI(F) have been exposed as opportunist parties willing to sleep with devil, if the price is right.
