Power shortfall has reached to 6,423MW due to shortage of oil and gas while prolonged loadshedding is continued in this hot summer.
Owing to the low supply of fuel and gas to power plants, the current power generation remains 11,511MW while the electricity shortfall has jumped to 6,423, further aggravating the crisis in the country.
Currently, hydel power plants are generating up to 4,527MW, thermal 1,267MW and 5,717MW electricity is being supplied by IPP’s.
However, the IPPs and thermal plants are producing 3,000MW of electricity less than their capacity due to which the unannounced loadshedding has been increased.
Meanwhile, the electricity of urban areas has been cut for 12 hours while power remained cut for 18 hours in the rural areas.
