Owing to the low supply of fuel and gas to power plants, the electricity shortfall jumped to 4482MW, further aggravating the crisis in the country.
According to a spokesman for National Transmission and Dispatch Company Limited (NTDCL), Hydel power plants are generating upto 4417 MW, Thermal 1212 MW and 5739MW electricity is being supplied by IPP’s while 700 MW is being supplied to Karachi.
Meanwhile, the electricity of big cities, including Lahore has been cut for 12 hours while power remained suspended for 18 hours in small cities and villages.
This prolonged power outage has caused water crisis.
