There are good universities in Pakistan who are ranked among the top 500 or top 1000 universities in the world, but most of these universities are considered good only for undergraduate programmes. When a student wants to pursue postgraduate studies, he is forced to apply abroad to continue his higher education.
The reason behind the lack of good postgraduate universities in Pakistan is lack of an environment that promotes research. Higher education demands a lot of research work and without bringing any innovation in the specific field, your studies will not be considered as complete. There are few universities that offer good postgraduate programmes but besides them no other university is offering some good programmes with improved research resources.
Due to lack of resources and addition of corruption in government universities, most of the talented students of Pakistan are applying abroad. According to research of Higher Education Commission of Pakistan more than ten thousand candidates apply to USA, UAE and Gulf states for their higher studies despite high tuition fees.
I appeal to the ministry of education to pay attention towards this problem so that the talented student of Pakistan can complete their studies within their state.
