Energy crisis

Pakistan has been facing an energy crisis since 2007. The main reason for the current crisis is that in the past no efforts were made to ensure increase in power generation capacity along with increase in population growth. An energy crisis is any great shortfall in the supply of energy resources to an economy. Electricity is the basic need of human life. It has great importance as it is directly related to every country’s economy.
Pakistan’s energy requirements are increasing day by day and not only economic growth but political stability is linked with the availability of energy resources. Wapda and KESC purchase expensive oil and transfer the cost to consumer. When the price of electricity is raised, the whole economy gets disturbed as a result of inflation and increase in the price of items of everyday use.
The major reason which has led to the energy crisis is the wrong policies of the government. Corruption is another major reason. The government should have developed electricity through alternative resources of energy like nuclear energy, natural gas exploration, natural gas import, solar energy, coal and wind energy.
Energy crisis has destroyed at least 50 percent of the industrial sector that has led to increase in the rate of unemployment. It has badly affected the fixed income group because costs of goods and services have increased.
The current shortage of electricity of Pakistan clearly implies failure on the part of the government to tackle it. The government should use electricity through coal, wind and water. Hydroelectricity is the cheapest source of electricity.

  1. it is not that no effort was made to increase electricity production. but the real problem is that a costly source of production was adopted and today even though we have enough generation capacity to meet our full demand but we do not have money to buy fuel to run those power houses. here the quality of our leadership comes into question who keeping in view the foreigner's need to sell their fuel to poor countries adopted this costly means of production to help the foreigners. therefore now money is the actual problem and not the production capacity.let us hope our future ledearship can get rid of their avrice to make commissions on imported things at the cost of thier poor people.

  2. It was a blunder to put all our eggs in the basket of the IPPs which should have been a short term measure while long term hydel projects should have been initiated to get cheap power and water for irrigation. Even now in our preoccupation with load shedding we are forgetting food shedding, there are many alternatives for power but none for water.

  3. The present government in Pakistan has failed to deliver most important facilities like electricity, employment, security and good governance in all sectors. Everyday the nation is bearing a million dollar loss until the incapable rulers get replaced by a patriotic and efficient alliance, whether in the form of PTI on its own or PTI+PML(N)+DPM.
I do not agree with military rule but I must admit that things were a lot better when Gen(R) Musharraf was in power.
Its time for a real change, I hope that all Pakistanis act together for their own sake.

  4. Employer and managerial control within an organization rests at many levels and has important implications for staff and productivity alike, with control forming the fundamental link between desired outcomes and actual processes. Employers must balance interests such as decreasing wage constraints with a maximization of labour productivity in order to achieve a profitable and productive employment relationship….
