Power crisis in the country has reached a critical stage while shortfall has reached 7500 Mega Watts.
According to sources, current production of electricity is 10,000 Mega Watts while the demand has reached 17,500 Mega Watts.
Ministry of Finance has not made payments to oil and gas companies, and same goes true in case of IPPs, due to which power companies has decreased the production of electricity to a dangerous level, sources said.
The scenario has led the duration of load shedding to reach 20 hours from 14 hours.
Meanwhile, distribution companies are facing problems managing the schedule of load shedding, as they have no choice other than resort to unscheduled power outages.
Concerned officials have warned the federal government if the problem is not checked, it has the capacity of paralyzing the whole system.
