Moton in his welcome address expressed that the prime objective of the meeting was to interact and discuss the increasing trend of crimes and law and order situation in the biggest industrial estate of the country in district west due to which the industrialists being very much perturbed wish that after posting of new officers in the SITE Zone the situation would become normal and under control, otherwise, it would be very difficult for the industrialists to carry on their business. He said when an industrialist feels his life and property as unsecured and uncertain then how he would run the industry. So it is important to maintain the law and order situation to the satisfaction of all concerned.
Asad Nisar, Senior Vice Chairman and Chairman Law and Order Sub-Committee pointed out that in near past the crime graph of SITE area was brought down at zero level due to excellent performance of the police officers of SITE Zone but now the situation has become worse and needs immediate attention. He said that we do hope that after posting of new police officers the situation of crimes may be controlled.
He pointed out that criminals have become so fearless that even the main gates of the factories are in their reach to commit looting activities and fled. The entry/exit points warrants keen monitoring to control such criminals elements so it is the need of hour that police be posted on these points to be remain alert around the clock, he further said. The Shortage of police strength/police mobile vans/motorcycles are one of the reasons that the culprits escape from the police grips which needs to be revisited. The business community of SITE Area has always been on forefront to cooperate with Police officials and do expect the friendly and result oriented attitude from the police as well. The kidnapping of loaded vehicles was also pointed out.
Younus M. Bashir, Acting President, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry suggested the revival of intelligence system of the police to trace the criminals and the elements on their backing. He said SCMC operating at S.I.T.E. Association is assisting police and other law & order agencies for remaining in constant touch with the area Police Station and are reporting the occurrence of crime on regular basis for immediate action. He further said that NOCs are issued by SCMC for movement of loaded vehicles in the night which has been found satisfactory in deterrence of crime and criminals. He stressed that night patrolling by the well equipped police officials be increased for effective control of crimes.
It was also suggested that vigilance and availability of police officials at the areas/roads against street crimes / mobile snatching from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 (noon) and 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily demands stern measures that no such street crime may occur particularly in peak hours because of heavy vehicular traffic / traffic congestion. It was also pointed out that police do not take any quick action on the complaints of industrialists. This needs to be taken care. Muhammad Aamir Farooqui, SSP, West Zone thanked the chair for providing opportunity to discuss law and order situation which would surely be controlled and brought to the level of satisfaction of industrialists of SITE area.
