The Acting Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah has said that Sindh Government has launched a major initiative under Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Youth Development Programme (SBYDP) for addressing the issue of poverty and unemployment in the province. She expressed such gratitude while delivering her presidential remarks at certificate distribution ceremony of six months skill development course in Library Science at Allama I.I. Kazi Campus Jamshoro on Friday.
She hoped that SBYDP will help in eradicating poverty and improve the socio-economic conditions of the common people with trained human resources.
She said that this training programme must have created professional skills in those candidates who have attended the course and added that this course will support the elimination of unemployment at grassroots level as this course has been already recognized by the Sindh Government for low level jobs in libraries.
The Deputy Director Department of Culture Iqbal Khan said that libraries play pivotal role in building of the nations. He offered internship for the Sindh University students of the Library Science with stipend to 10 to 15 students.
The Chairperson Department of Library and Information Science Dr Shereen Gul also expressed her views and highlighted the academic programmes introduced by the department. The skilled course development was organized for unemployed students by the Library and Information Science Department of the University of Sindh in collaboration with Sindh Culture Department under SBYDP.
