Pakistani, Indian officials discuss upcoming secretary-level talks

Prior to the round of talks between the Home secretaries of Pakistan and India, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India Shahid Malik met Indian Home Secretary RK Singh here on Wednesday. According to sources, this was a goodwill meeting and the two officials had 30 minutes long discussion on matters that would be discussed in the proposed talks between the Home secretaries. The secretary level talks are due to be held on May 24-25 in Islamabad. Sources said the two secretaries are expected to sign a free visa agreement, and permit traders’ access to five cities instead of current three cities. On April 25, the Indian cabinet gave green signal for signing the agreement. The free visa agreement is expected to benefit the population on both sides. Sources told Online that the Indian delegation would also demand Pakistan to present the accused of Mumbai attacks into courts and to speed up the proceedings against them.
