JI chief Munawar Hasan has said restoration of the NATO supplies was be an insult to parliament. He said the government had succumbed to US pressure and decided to restore NATO supplies without Washington yielding to Islamabad’s demands for an apology on the Salala attack and stoppage of drone attacks. He was addressing the heads of JI’s sister bodies at a meeting held at Mansoora to devise ways and means to stop the NATO supplies. Hasan questioned the worth of the government’s claim about the supremacy of parliament when it had unanimously adopted resolutions which were being given little weight by the US. He said the government itself was by-passing parliament to please Washington.
The rulers were trampling upon the Supreme Court decisions and parliament’s resolutions and pushing the country into chaos and the country’s solidarity and independence was at great risk under the present ruling junta. He warned that his party would resist the NATO supply resumption. He said the main reason behind the US pressure was the corrupt leadership which openly said Pakistan could not survive without the US’ help.
