The Water and Power Ministry is yet to recover electricity bills worth Rs19.11 million from the Parliament Lodges. According to a report of the Ministry of Water and Power submitted in the National Assembly Secretariat, during last three years, the Parliament Lodges were charged electricity bills worth Rs76.55 million but the consumers had paid around Rs65.02 million. Currently, Parliament Lodges comprise nine blocks with seven of them being used by parliamentarians and rest two by the administration. The Lodges comprise 358 family suites, against a total of 442 parliamentarians. According to the ministry, since July 2008 to June 2009, the Lodges were sent electricity bills worth Rs11.44 million and only Rs10.36 million could be recovered.
