DCO for making parking plaza fully functional

District Coordination Officer (DCO) Rawalpindi Saqib Zafar has said that the parking plaza of Fawara Chowk should be made completely functional and Rawalpindi Development Auhtority (RDA) and Tehsil Municipal Adminitration (TMA), Rawal Town, should make efforts to solve the problems of the contractors of Suzuki vans and vans to minimise the traffic problem at Fawara Chowk.
He said all the vans must be parked properly in the parking plaza so that the traffic load at Fawara Chowk could properly be controlled. He said this in a meeting held here in his office. RDA Director General RDA Ch Naseer Ahmed, ADCG/Administrator Rawal Town Saif Anwer Jappa, Deputy Director RDA Masood Ahmed, DO, I&S Rawal Town Touseef Ahmed and representatives of Suzuki van contractors attended the meeting. The DCO said implementation of agreement between RDA and constrictors of Suzuki vans and wagons should be ensured to solve the problems.
After the construction of parking plaza, improvement in traffic flow at Fawara Chowk was witnessed, he said adding traffic police should also assist the authorities concerned to control the traffic problems and public transport should not be allowed to stay outside the parking plaza. He said the instructions must be implemented in letter and spirit so that the citizens could be provided relief and they could be facilitated.
Call to complete cleanliness drive by tomorrow: Imtiaz Malik : Executive District Officer (EDO) Imtiaz Ahmed Malik has said that the ongoing grand cleanliness campaign being carried out by Municipal Services Department would be completed till May 15 while four Union Councils, UC No 15, Mohalla Raja Sultan, Satellite Town, Block F, UC No 7, Fauji Colony, Pirwadhai, UC No 36 Mohanpura, and UC No 32, New Amarpura and Sarfraz Road were cleaned on Saturday.
He said cleanliness work in UC No 32 and 36 was carried out again as these UCs were not cleaned properly. EDO Imtiaz Ahmed Malik, District Officer Solid Waste Management, Dr Mazhar Azeem on Saturday visited Mohallah Raja Sultan, Holy Family, Fauji Colony and inspected the progress of the cleanliness work. They urged the citizens, particularly traders to help the sanitary staff so that the campaign could be made a complete success.
Later, at a meeting held here in the EDO office, the Solid Waste Management DO said that so far 43 union councils have been cleaned while nearly 2,200 tonnes garbage has also been removed. As many as 26 kilometers water drainage lines have been cleared and solid waste, garbage and debris of demolished buildings was removed from eight plots.
The owners of two plots have been issued final notices to construct boundary walls. The meeting was also informed that nine challans for throwing garbage in Nullah Lai have also been issued. The meeting was told that garbage collected during cleanliness campaign in various areas of the city has also been lifted.
