President Asif Ali Zardari has reiterated support to the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) in all its humanitarian endeavours and efforts to make the Country strong and vibrant.

President Zardari appreciated the Pakistan Red Crescent Society for helping people in distress in the country without any discrimination. He said the role it played in flood relief and rehabilitation and in preventing outbreak of diseases in the wake of floods and earthquake had been most commendable. He paid tribute to Jean Henri Dunant, the great social activist, for pioneering the idea of establishing an organization dedicated to alleviating the sufferings of people regardless of considerations of national boundaries, race, or religion etc. Zardari said the theme ‘Youth on the Move’ for this year is most appropriate as it brings into focus the role of the youth in meeting the challenges of alleviating the sufferings of humanity exacerbated by extremism on the one hand and the vagaries of climate change on the other The thought of motivating the youth to rise and serve the humanity regardless of all biases and prejudices is a noble thought indeed, he added.
Germany can play role in Kashmir settlement: Sultan Mehmood: Former AJK Prime Minister, Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhary Monday said that Germany, as one of the most important members of the European Union (EU) could play an effective role for resolution of Kashmir issue.
“Germany, owing to situation emerged after the `Berlin Wall’ could better understand miseries and plight of divided Kashmiri families living on both sides of Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir. Therefore, Germany should urge the European Union to play its role for settlement of Kashmir issue,” he made these remarks during his one-hour long detailed meeting with Chairman, Foreign Relations Committee in German Parliament, Ruprecht Polenz in Berlin, Germany. According to message received here, former Member Kashmir Council, Hameed Pothi was also present in the meeting. Sultan Mehmood said it was appropriate time for settlement of Kashmir issue, adding, “Peace cannot be maintained in this region if Kashmiris are once again forced to take arms.”He called upon the international community not to waste this opportunity otherwise; it would have to wait for a long time. Pointing out Indian stubborn attitude towards the issue, he asked the Indian leaders to withdraw troops from cities, repeal draconian laws and allow Hurriyat leaders to visit abroad to present their stance before the world community as well as participate in the intra-Kashmiri dialogue. Pakistan and India were nuclear states and even a minor mistake could lead to a full war which could engulf the entire world, he added. He opined that resolution of Kashmir issue could also improve Pakistan-India bilateral relations. The Chairman Foreign Relations Committee in German Parliament promised to forward proposals of Sultan Mehmood Chaudhary to German Chancellor and German Parliaments Foreign Relations Committee enabling them to better understand ground realities. He said that India could become permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and play its role in global village only after giving the people of Kashmir their right to self-determination. He said that Pakistan and India were holding dialogue and Kashmir would be on the agenda, hence, the world community should play its role for resolution of Kashmir issue.
