The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department on Monday put the province on high alert after confirmation of cases of Congo virus (CCHF) in certain localities of the province. Through a press release, KP Livestock and Dairy Development Department Epidemiologist Dr Ihsanullah Khan said during the last week, high alert has been declared by the Health Department after confirmation of CCHF positive human cases in Dera Ismail Khan and Dir Lower districts. He said most of the animals do not show any clinical signs after being infected with CCHF, though viraemia lasting for seven to 10 days has been reported in mammals infected by the said viral disease.
