All Pakistan News Agency Council strongly condemning the threats to senior Journalist Mubashir Luqman for exposing the laptop computer scam of the Punjab Government and termed it as an attack on the freedom of press.
President of the Council Mohsin Baig in a statement on Saturday said that elements who are involved in the scam are behind the threats to the journalist. These elements want to strangle the voice of truth to hide their nefarious crimes. He said that no media house would tolerate such a heinous act.
He appealed to the federal government to take notice of the threats to Mubashir Luqman and take measures to ensure his safety and expose the elements behind these threats. Mohsin Baig said that journalists through the power of pen and their voice would continue to play their role to expose the corrupt and such threats would not deter them from exercising their right to free press.

irresponsible decision: Awami National Party leader Senator Afrasiyab Khattak said that the long march announcement in the present political situation is an irresponsible decision.
Talking to a private news channel, he said if any party is considering a change in the country, it should be brought through democratic and constitutional way. Senator Afrasiyab Khattak stated that the resolution on creation of South Punjab province has been passed according to the constitution. He added that it has been passed in the National Assembly and theProvincial Assembly has also been asked to introduce a resolution on it. He explained that it has been the demand of the people living in South Punjab. Afrasiyab Khattak further said though PML-N is reacting to the resolution on South Punjab province but preparing its own resolution on four provinces which is not a serious attitude.
Qawwals, folk musicians enthrall audience: Popular Qawwals, folk singers anddancers enthralled the audience of twin cities here late Friday in a musical evening entitled “Sufi Night” at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).
The musicians mesmerized the audience with “Sufi Kalam” in melodious tunes through soul-soothing verses of poetry and highlighted traditions and teachings of Sufis.
The show gave message of peace, love and harmony through combining expressions of the traditional musical heritage of the Subcontinent. Attired in vibrant costumes, traditional folk dancers presented regional dances with props featuring cultural values of various areas of the country. The event was jointly organized by PNCA and the Ministry of National Heritage and Integration as part of its regular activities to promote and preserve traditional music of Pakistan. Qawwali is a part of Sufi traditions as mostly it carries Islamic verses with a mystical school of thought that depict divine love and messages connected to folk sayings. About the show, Director General PNCA, Tauqeer Nasir said that the teachings of `Sufis’ played a pivotal role in dissemination of the divine message of Islam. The Qawwals took this message to every corner of Subcontinent through their unique expressions.
