Wages of sin

According to reports the family of former ISI officer Khalid Khwaja, who had been killed by militants in North Waziristan two years ago, has demanded the authorities to register a case against Hamid Mir, a renowned journalist.

Speaking at a ceremony held at National Press Club Islamabad, Osama Khalid, son of Khalid Khwaja blamed Mr Mir for the killing of his father and said that no FIR had been registered against Hamid Mir apparently due to his influence despite the lapse of two years. It is to be mentioned here that a tape was revealed by a national daily carrying conversation allegedly between Hamid Mir and a militant commander, in which Mr Mir termed Khalid Khwaja a CIA agent.

Later on, Hamid Mir denied the charges, saying a man was impersonating him in the tape and also alleged that then Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer hatched a conspiracy against him and he would sue him.

It is unfortunate that if such was the case as Hamid Mir’s charge against Salmaan Taseer was serious, why a case in the court could not be initiated?

Whatever the facts are, whether someone impersonated or not these should come to fore, because it is not matter of only Hamid Mir, or his influence, but it is the question of Pakistan’s security and integrity.
