Lyari operation enters day six

The operation in Karachi’s Lyari area entered its sixth day on Wednesday.
The police have been claiming to have taken control of a significant portion of Lyari and have said that the operation would be completed within the next couple of days.
The area, however, was tense on Wednesday and intermittent gunshots could be heard. Moreover, residents remained in a state of fear and uncertainty.
Earlier on Tuesday, stray bullets and grenade attacks in the area left a number of people wounded and police claimed killing a gangster named Tariq Siyah Pat in Afshani Gali.
Tuesday also saw protests breaking out in different parts of Karachi against the ongoing operation. Police resorted to baton charge, firing tear gas shells and gunshots into the air to disperse the charged crowds.

  2. What a contradiction that the MQM which never tires of shedding tears about the crackdown on them by Retd Gen Nasirullah Baber, is today praising this one sided politicised police action, while criminals in the rest of Karachi are having a free hand killing and robbing people

    Cant you listen to what Rafiq Engineer, Nabeel Gabool and CM Sindh saying. Aman Committe and JSQM extortionist are exposed. Why Zulfiqar Mirza was uniting dangerous elements such as Shahi Sayed and Afaq.

Look whenever PPP went into trouble MQM cries for an operation in PPP, ANP and JI dominated areas and PPP led government sccumbed to the pressure and pretend to do an operation (No gang busted till now in last 04 years). Police and rangers marches in the streets and occasioaly killed low ranked or bistanders to get political gains from MQM. People of the area including Zulfiqar Mirza think that Nabeel Gabool and Rafiq Engineer are behind this operation.
    Yes there must be a thorough opaeration in all areas of Karachi and every criminal should brought to the task without politicising it. This fake and FARMAISHI operation is not acceptable.
