US ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter on Sunday said that Washington expected a long-term relationship with Pakistan.
Talking to media during a visit to Shalimar Bagh Lahore, Munter said that Pak-US relations were based upon people-to-people level as well. He opined that Washington wanted further cementing of bilateral ties with Pakistan.
Cameron Munter, his wife Dr. Marilyn Wyatt, and Consul General Nina Fite visited the Shalimar Gardens, classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage site.
Punjab Archeology Deputy Director Afzal Khan greeted the ambassador and briefed the delegation about 17th century Mughal gardens.
The ambassador felt mesmerized with the beauty of architecture and took special interest in the conservation efforts underway. He also visited the terraces of the garden, named Farah Baksh (Bestower of Pleasure) and Faiz Baksh (Bestower of Goodness), and was particularly taken aback by the fountains and marble pavilions.
