Chief Secretary Punjab Nasir Mehmud Khosa has said that utilization of funds allocated for ongoing developmental schemes during the current fiscal year should be ensured by the 15th of June.
Similarly the targets for collection of revenues should also be achieved along with meeting targets regarding shifting of students from non formal literacy and basic education schools to the main stream schools. He further said that the Health Department should ensure availability of larvacide spray medicine in its stores at least for next three months and larvacide campaign must be implemented effectively in all areas of respective districts of Rawalpindi division especially those areas where from dengue suspects were identified last year. He stated this while presiding a high level meeting held in Commissioner’s office, Rawalpindi on Saturday to review the pace of work on ongoing developmental schemes and progress in recovery of revenues and government dues in districts of Rawalpindi Division. member board of revenue (Judicial) Ch. Naseer Ahmed, SEs of provincial buildings, PHED and highways, director health services Dr. Zafar Iqbal Gondal, representative officers of other concerned nation building departments attended the meeting. Chief secretary punjab said that nation building departments should give special attention towards pace of work on the ongoing developmental schemes with a view to ensure their completion as per schedule so that citizens may benefit from these schemes at the earliest. Regarding anti dengue campaign, the chief secretary underlined the need of preparedness of the concerned departments well before the season in which the dangers of spreading dengue fever is more likely
Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Imdad Ullah Bosal while briefing about recoveries of land revenue and other government dues informed the meeting that more than Rs. 505 million has been recovered in head of mutation fee, Rs. 1601 million in head of government dues and Rs. 1.4 million in water rates (Abiana).
He said that Rs. 203 million were recovered as registration fee, Rs. 485 million in stamp duty and Rs. 133.4 million in capital value tax in the division. The meeting was informed that in Rawalpindi division 3420 kanals and 16 marlas of land was retrieved from the illegal occupants in all districts of Rawalpindi division out of 3590 kanals having value of more than Rs. 1278 million. The meeting was informed that about 63 percent of the allocated funds have been spent on the on going developmental schemes in the division under different packages of the government. He disclosed that PC-I of widening of Mareer Chowk has been prepared and sent to the government, while the work on phase I of the Chur Chowkn widening mega project has been started which would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 475 million. The work on widening of Pir Vidhai More would be started in phase II which would be completed with an estimated cost of Rs. 1,650 million. The meeting was also informed that total 12 centers has been established in all districts of Rawalpindi division for the procurement of wheat and as per target 5,000 Metric tons wheat would be purchased from all the four districts of Rawalpindi division. The Commissioner informed that about 2,310 breeding sites have been covered under larvacide activity till date in district Rawalpindi, while 223 sites in Attock, 1,587 sites in Jhelum and 691 sites in Chakwal were covered through larvaciding activity during current campaign of spray and fogging against dengue along with taking steps for public awareness in the light of the instructions of the government. DCO Rawalpindi Saqib Zafar and DCOs of Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal also briefed the meeting about the progress in different sectors including development, education and revenue collection.
