Radio Pakistan employees get arrears

All Radio Pakistan employees and pensioners have been paid arrears of their salaries and pension, which were due for the past seven and 13 months respectively. The arrears have been paid along with the salary for the month of April 2012, said a Radio Pakistan press release.
The government had announced an increase of 15-20 percent in the pension in 2010-11 and then again in 2011-2012. The six months arrears of the increase in the pension announced in 2010-11 and seven months arrears of the rise in 2011-12 could not be paid to the pensioners because of financial crunch.
Similarly, the government had announced revision of pay scales and 15 percent ad hoc increase in the salaries of the government employees in the 2011-12 budget. However, increased salary was paid to the Radio Pakistan employees in February 2012, but arrears were not paid.
The press release further said that measures are underway to clear the arrears of the artists as well. The employees and pensioners of the department have thanked the Director General Murtaza Solangi and the government for payment of the long standing arrears.
Rescue 1122 observes world safety day: On the direction of Director General Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122, Dr. Rizwan Nasser, Rescue 1122 observed World Safety Day in Rawalpindi to promote safety and health at work place.
The Community Training Wing Rawalpindi organized a safety workshop in District Rawalpindi at Community Training Centre, Central Rescue Station Rawalpindi.
The workshop has been attended by all managerial groups like Emergency Officers, Station Coordinators, Shift Incharges, Community Safety Instructors of Emergency Service, and Rawalpindi.
The District Emergency Officer reviewed yearly performance of Rescue 1122, Rawalpindi keeping in view the safety at work place emergency operations conducted by Rawalpindi Service.
It has been observed that Rawalpindi Rescue has rescued over 48000 victims in different emergencies since the Service is established in the District Rawalpindi in the year 2007. The Station Coordinators have been provided further guidelines to promote safety culture at nearest work place in their respective jurisdiction.
They have been assigned to identify risk elements for residential area by conducting survey, so that safety move could be incited at community level.
SCBA executive committee meeting next week: The executive committee of Supreme Court Bar association would be held a meeting on 3 and 4 May in Quetta.
The meeting would consider and discuss the prevailing situation of the country after the decision of full bench of Supreme Court on dated 26 April 2012 and issue of Balochistan. Meeting will be preside by Muhammad Yaseen Azad, President Supreme Court Bar Association.
Hearing of Benazir assassination cases adjourned: The hearing of trial of the persons accused in Benazir assassination and Mumbai attack cases could not take place on Saturday due to absence of both the senior counsels of prosecution.
Anti Terrorism Court is hearing these two cases in Adiala Jail. On previous four occasions the hearing was adjourned due to non presence of judge or lawyers. The court has adjourned the hearing till May, 5.
Parents express concerns over teacher’s attendance: Parents have expressed grave concerns over next to nil attendance of teachers in the classes of boys secondary school Chaklala village.
They said that the teachers don’t pay any heed to conduct classes and teach the students.
“My son goes to school daily but he spend all the time in playing with his class fellows and he is gaining nothing in terms of knowledge”, said a resident of the area.
“Teachers only attend the school on pay day and they remain absent whole month it seems that they have been employed in the school only to get salaries”, said a group of residents. The parents appealed to the concerned department to take action against the teachers and to issue directive in this regard.
Pick-pocketing on the rise in commercial market: Residents and customers have expressed grave concerns over rising incidents of pick pocketing and purse snatching in commercial market of Satellite Town.
They said that Pick pockets and purse snatchers are on prime time looting spree, on pockets of ill fated costumers of the market due to the negligence of the concerned police station. Civil society has strong protested over this victimization by criminal elements and demanded administration to take due steps to curb these elements, which were causing financial loss to lower class persons.
RCCI to set up free medical clinic: Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industries (RCCI) has decided to set up medical clinic in its new building to provide free medical treatment to needy and poor persons.
The decision was taken in the meeting of RCCI Medical Welfare Council. The meeting approved that a floor would be allocated for establishment of free medical clinic in the proposed new building of the chamber. This project will boost the welfare oriented objectives of RCCI and would be a step forward in expanding the medical facilities ambit of the chamber, the people from various segments of society hoped.
