The Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) has urged the government to review the wheat procurement policy to provide relief to the farming community.
KBP President Sardar Zafar Hussain said in a press statement that at least 15 gunny bags should be provided to farmers instead of eight on every acre of farmland.
He said gunny bags should be given on a first come first served basis and that announcements should be made in mosques three days before the start of the wheat procurement drive in the area.
He stressed that the gunny bags issued as well as the stocked wheat should be checked on a daily basis and the provision of bags should be ensured in the presence of the tehsildar, food inspector or supervisory committees after checking the original identity card of farmers.
