Arrangements for Intermediate exams complete: Mujtaba

Punjab Education Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said the arrangements for the Intermediate examinations to be held from May 8, have been completed and that over 1080,000 students have been registered through the online system so far.
In a statement, he said the Higher Education secretary and the Information Technology Board chairman were directly supervising the online system to ensure transparency.
The minister said education was a priority for the provincial government and it had taken many initiatives for its promotion.
He said the Punjab government had provided Rs 10 billion to promote school education in marginalised areas and 1.5 million deserving students in 36 districts would benefit from it during the current year.
He stated that Rs 46 billion will be spent on school education to raise its standard to international levels.
The minister said the government had recruited 36,000 schoolteachers and 30,000 subject specialists on merit.
