At least five persons were killed and several others injured in fresh spate of target killing in different localities of city on Friday.
According to police, two armed men opened fire at Shoaib, 22, in Ram Swami area, injuring him critically. The injured was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.
In another incident, the police recovered dead bodies of two persons from Orangi Town. The bodies were shifted to hospital for postmortem. Identity of the deceased aged between 25 to 30 years, has not been confirmed.
In Old City area, gunmen opened fire at a man leaving him critically injured. The injured was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.
Furthermore, the police recovered dead body of an unknown person from Memon Goth area. The arms and legs of deceased were tied with ropes.
Meanwhile, more than 10 persons were injured in various firing incidents in New Karachi, Liaqatabad, Jahangir Road, Shah Faisal Colony and Lyari.
Recent incidents of target killing and lawlessness in the city have adversely hurt the hustle and bustle of the city. Uncertain law and order situation has paralyzed the routine life besides affecting commercial activities.
The citizens have expressed concerns over the role of police and Rangers who failed to calm the situation. They urged provincial government to look for some additional steps to bring the law and order situation of Karachi under control.
